The
New Start Hostel program operates as an intensive residential
therapeutic program in our warm, loving foster home.
Young unwed, pregnant women live in our family home where they
experience healthy patterns of relationship and interaction.
Working together as a family, they develop the skills of healthy
interactions within a family unit.
The family aspect of the program is balanced
with a strong therapeutic and educational program. Women meet
both individually and in group therapy sessions with professional
therapeutic staff to determine an appropriate course of action
for each young resident. Educational programming involves:
Emotional coping skills - changing
maladaptive patterns of behavior, approaches to interpersonal
relationships, the building of self-esteem and self-worth
and coping skills for managing stress and conflict.
