The
New Seed Foundation and Tzel Koratainu's present program, the
New Start Hostel, grew out of our recognition, based on previous
programming, of the pivotal role the mother takes in the healthy
development of her family, and the fact that one mother can
and does affect a number of children and the generations to
follow.
We felt that a preventative program that
works with the mothers before the birth of their children
would be the most effective way of impacting on the cycle
of abuse.
Our New Start Hostel program invites
young, unwed pregnant women from dysfunctional homes and relationships
to join us in our family environment. Women often come from
off the street, rejected by family and friends, with no other
place willing to give them and their children a new start
in life. Here they find a warm family home, therapy and counseling,
and the education and guidance they need to become capable,
loving mothers and contributing members of society.
