Summer School for the Arts In order to facilitate our
girls' healing, during the summer vacation, we operated a
unique creative program open to the community, the Summer
School for the Arts. This program was designed to address
our resident's need to break from their victim personalities,
to relate with other children, and to contribute to the community.
Over fifty community girls worked together with residents
in our home to develop a multifaceted professional performance
including a puppet show, singing and ballet performances.
The project
operated over two summers and culminated in the production
of a professionally produced cassette tape of the participants
performing original music created specifically for the Summer
School program.
The Summer School for the Arts was among our programs that
were selected as model programs and funded by the Jewish Agency
for Israel.
