Family Affair - The Family as a System The New Start Hostel program
is unique in that residents live as part of our family.
A loving family home is an ideal
healing environment where support and acceptance help heal
the pain of previous dysfunctional family patterns. Self-esteem
is built through positive family experiences. Human values,
personal integrity and favorable character traits are acquired
through appropriate modeling and guidance within the family.
Skills of daily living and successful social interaction are
modeled and taught, including independence, responsibility,
empathy and social and home management.
For many of our residents, this
is the first opportunity to live in a family that is actively
involved in helping them grow and heal.
